Spring Term

Our English studies this term will look at two fiction texts: Skellig and Holes.  From these we will look at narrative writing as we  write our own version of a specific scene, considering the impact we want to have on the reader.  We will also look at non fiction writing through biographies, persuasive writing and non chronological reports.

In maths, we will work in groups to consolidate our knowledge of fractions, as well as introducing new learning on fractions, decimals and percentages. We will also be regularly revisiting and reviewing previous learning around place value and both written and mental calculation.  

Our geography work will focus on where energy comes from and also carrying out independent fieldwork to practice the skills we have acquired in previous years..

In science we will build on our work on classification and identification of animals in the Autumn term by looking at evolution and inheritance. We will also be studying circuits, batteries and switches with a focus on scientific enquiry

RE will witness look at how people use clothes to express their beliefs in the first term, then look at how resurrection is important to Christians in the run up to Easter.

PSHE will continue to look at health and wellbeing, as well as starting to work on safety & the changing body..

In Computing, we will look at the history of computing, and how we can create media that can represent it.

PE will see us develop the way we use exercise to contribute to our healthy living and look at matching and mirroring in gymnastics.
