As part of our work around the Lion King, the children are learning to retell an African story using similar characters. The story we are learning is called Awongalema. The story involves some animals from the Savannah, including Simba the Lion trying to remember the name of a magic tree. It would be great if you could get the children to tell you the story at home as the more chances they get to tell the story, the better their finished piece of writing will be.
This is a story we have taken from some work we did with The Story Museum in Oxford. If the children forget parts of the story, you can find their version of the story below.
