Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful place Longfields Primary School is, which makes it even harder to be writing this message, but this academic year will be my last in charge at Longfields. Last week I handed in my resignation and my last day of work will be 31st August 2022.
It has been an absolute privilege to be able to lead Longfields for what will be over eight and a half years at the end of this academic year. Together we have seen so many changes and I believe the school is unrecognisable from the school I joined back in January 2014.
Physically, the school is totally different, with our transition from 1.5 to 2 form entry seeing major transformations to the buildings and our environment, including updating of old classrooms, establishing new staff areas, Wrap Around care facilities, Orchard and Forest School provision.
The sense of community we have built here at Longfields is truly special and everyone has played their part in making that happen. From parents, to pupils, to governors and to staff, the amazing ethos, which is tangible, is a result of our collective hard work.
There are so many good times we have had together and also some challenging ones, particularly this last couple of years. I have had the most amazing time as Head at Longfields. I count it a privilege to work alongside a group of individuals who are so committed to providing the best for our children and parents who are willing to work in partnership to achieve the same goal.
I am confident that Longfields will continue to be a GOOD school, as both of the Ofsted inspections during my tenure have recognised. I am so proud of our latest Ofsted judgement and know that the school is in a great place going forward, with plans in place to improve our provision further.
Longfields has obviously been a huge part of my life. I have taken great pride in watching our children develop over the past eight years and I thank everyone who has played a part in creating that very tangible feeling and ethos that makes Longfields Primary a very special place to be. I have every confidence that the governing body will appoint an appropriate successor.
I always said that Longfields would be my last Headship and that is the case, as I will be leaving to follow a career path in a completely different area. I will miss everyone at Longfields, I have made many friends and hope those friendships continue beyond my time here.
